Cooking Is My Love Language

Cooking found me five years ago, during COVID and one of the hardest chapters of my life. How the kitchen became my escape — and why every recipe here is made with love.

The kitchen became my escape

Cooking is my love language. Cooking heals me. Cooking is my passion.

I didn't grow up dreaming of becoming a cook, and I haven't spent my whole life creating recipes. In fact, my love for cooking found me only about five years ago, during COVID — and during one of the hardest chapters of my life.

When the world seemed to stop and life felt uncertain, I found myself spending more and more time in the kitchen. What started as simply preparing meals slowly became something much more meaningful.

It became a place where I could quiet my mind, be creative, and turn an ordinary day into something comforting. There was something healing about chopping fresh ingredients, hearing something simmer on the stove, tasting a sauce and realizing it needed just a little more garlic, spice, sweetness, or heat.

Learning to trust my instincts

In the beginning, I cooked completely on the fly. I followed recipes, changed them, questioned them, and sometimes spent hours trying to figure out which flavors, spices, and ingredients belonged together. There were successes — and definitely a few meals that didn't go quite as planned.

But I kept cooking. Eventually, something changed. I stopped being afraid to trust my own instincts.

Instead of asking, “What does the recipe say?” I started asking, “What would make this taste like me?” That was when I began creating my own original recipes.

Cooking became less about following instructions and more about telling a story. Every dish became a little expression of where I had been, what I loved, what I remembered, and what I wanted the people around my table to feel.

Food is more than something we eat

Food can remind us of home. It can bring people together after a difficult day. It can turn strangers into friends and ordinary evenings into memories. A familiar smell can take us back years, and a meal made with love can sometimes say the things we don't know how to put into words.

Here, I'll be sharing the recipes that came from my kitchen, my experiences, my curiosity, and my heart. Some are comforting. Some are inspired by flavors from around the world. Some came from experimenting with whatever I had in the refrigerator. And some simply happened because I followed my instincts.

They may not always be perfect. But they are mine. And they are made with love.

From my kitchen to yours

My hope is that somewhere along the way, one of my recipes finds its way into your kitchen, onto your table, and perhaps even becomes part of one of your own memories.

I hope you cook them for someone you love. I hope you make them your own. And most of all, I hope my recipes warm your soul.

Recipes from the heart, warmth for the soul.
