Growing up in the 80s: no cell phones, no likes, just the beach, music, and a few dollars that could last the whole day.
Sometimes I really miss growing up in the 80s
Life wasn't perfect, but it somehow felt simpler. We didn't have cell phones, social media, or the pressure to document everything. If you wanted to see your friends, you called their house phone—or sometimes you just showed up.
Some of my favorite memories were the simplest ones: spending an entire day at the beach with friends, listening to music, grabbing something cheap to eat, driving around with the windows down, and laughing about absolutely nothing.
A few dollars could actually last the day.
I miss the feeling
We felt free. We felt safe enough to explore. We weren't worried about likes, followers, or capturing the perfect picture.
We were simply living the moment.
For the length of one old song
Now, every once in a while, an old 80s song comes on and suddenly I'm back there—sun on my face, salt in my hair, friends beside me, and an entire day ahead of us.
We didn't know those ordinary days would someday become some of our favorite memories.
Maybe that's the beautiful thing about nostalgia: for the length of one old song, we get to go home again.
